Care Home Visits
What is Animal Assisted Therapy?
Animal Assisted Therapy improves peoples mental, physical, social and emotional functioning with the aid of animals. Depending on the needs of the individual, many different animals can be used in therapy, including horses (also called equine-assisted therapy), rabbits, sheep, goats and other animals.
Animal-assisted therapy takes place in a variety of settings, including prisons, hospitals, nursing homes, schools and mental health facilities.
We understand the joy and excitement ponies can bring to any event, which is why we are dedicated to bring the best standards of care and professionalism for a unique experience.
This can be any special day or evening, from a Birthday, Christmas or event to a Wedding!
Imagine how special your Wedding day could be, with your bridesmaids & pageboys pictured with gorgeous mini pony’s or your child’s party having fluffy bunnies and guinea pigs?
And lets be honest what is Christmas without a Shetland pony in a Santa hat?
Making Animals a Part of ALL of our Life
Animal Assisted Therapy has proven to be a powerful antidote to the feelings of loneliness, dependency and isolation often experienced by seniors who are unable to live in their own homes or with family members. In the presence of our therapy animals even patients suffering from dementia tend to be less withdrawn and more in touch with their own feelings. Participating in these visits is one of the most rewarding aspects of being part of Kingswood Shetlands staff. Not soon are forgotten the emotional connections made between the residents and ponies.
If you are an activities co-ordinator within a setting we would love to hear from you.
We offer interactive, fun animal encounter experiences.
We pride ourselves on our highly knowledgeable handlers who will lovingly bring their animals to you. The handlers will be with you as you experience the animals in a safe and careful way.
Each visit is unique bringing along the kinds of animals you want to touch and learn about. You may want cute and cuddly for a party or a wide range of different species for a classroom – you decide!
